This breast asymmetry was a difficult case treated a few months ago. We used different size anatomic implants and a round block on the right side. The round block gave a small lift and a reduction of the size of the areola
Breast asymmetry is a difference in size or volume of the breasts. If the difference is small most women don’t even notice this.
However sometimes the breasts can differ in size by more than a cup and become noticeable. Additionally some breasts are different in shape or may go through changes during pregnancy, breast feeding and aging that lead to asymmetry. For example, aging breasts may sag at differently , leading to one sagging lower than the other. In some cases, asymmetry can be attributed to breast augmentation surgery. it can be an aesthetic complication that may arise after breast implant insertion if not done the same on both sides. Breast asymmetry is corrected by breast surgery or revision breast surgery. There are several ways that Dr Kitsios like any plastic surgeon can propose
Augmentation by using differently sized implants into the breasts to balance them out or using an implant on only one side if the other breast is big enough. This kind of surgery improves also the global image of the breasts like the case above
Fat transfer by extracting excess fat from an area of the body like the belly or legs and injecting it into the smaller breast to augment its size. plastic surgeons that use this technique propose it to women with minor asymmetry (meaning less than one cup size difference)
Dr Kitsios might propose a breast lift to reshape and reposition the breasts and especially the areola so that they appear more balanced and also youthful. This surgery is best for women whose breasts are sagging unevenly. By the same way a breast reduction can be proposed by a plastic surgeon if there is also a breast hypertrophy that is uneven. This approach is for women whose large breasts cause them emotional or physical discomfort.
A revision of breast implants can be proposed to correct asymmetry caused by surgical complications from breast augmentation like capsular contracture or rupture of implant.
