Do you what to know what happens during breast augmentation surgery?
Like all operations there are steps involved in breast implant surgery.
Anesthesia
Dr Kitsios performs breast augmentation while you are under general anesthesia.
Incision
Breast implants can be inserted by several ways. Your surgeon can perform the procedure
- From the crease under your breast ( the inframammary fold).
- Around the lower edge of your areola (the periareolar incision).
- Via your armpit (known as a transaxillary approach).
Dr Kitsios will discuss these methods with you before your surgery, and together you will determine which will be used
Breast Implants insertion
There are two sites for your surgeon to insert the implant: in front of your muscle (but behind the breast tissue) or behind your breast muscle (pectoral muscle). The site of the breast implants depends on different factors like the type of implant you choose and how much you’re increasing the size of your breasts. You should discuss the benefits of each method with Dr Kitsios and make that decision together.
Closing the incision
After your breast implants are inside, Dr Kitsios will stitch the incisions to close them. For breast augmentation we don’t use drainage tubes. The breasts will be covered with gauze and a surgical bra specially made for breast surgery.
